We cannot answer this at this time.
thank you for your promptly reply and your continued support in this matter.

Why can't you answer these questions now?
Can't you look up the number chapters in the databse via Mod tools or something ?
Or does that mean that the removal is still ongoing as we speak ?
i noticed that between last thursday and sunday over 50 chapters from a certain group disappeared.

When will you be able to give us a list of the removed titles and name the "legal nexus" ?

They will never answer either of these questions. Which is particularly dumb for the titles removed.

Instead what will happen is more and more titles and all of their chapters that have been on Mangadex for years now will continue to be removed silently. And that promise to restore titles removed to preserve metadata will never happen.

I wouldn't call it "obvious", since there were multiple things that could have been done. EtherealNeko could have blocked them. Could have locked down the profile. Could have prevented people from posting. Could have swept away the posts. Could have done a combination of these things.
This. She could have even given them a month ban at most to send a message. It's so absurd to give them permanent bans and expect them to go to the Discord to argue against it, it just sounds like an excuse to get rid of the people she doesn't like.

I've been advised not to. To the best of my knowledge, the removal had been finalized by the time of the announcement post. Other removals might be due to other unrelated rule breakages or just the uploader or group wanting to remove them.

that is very, very unfortunate.

who advised you not to ?
will there be a point of time when someone will be able to tell the full truth about this ?

sidenote:
the group i was refering to has no groupleader and the uploadpermission is set to "anyone" so it might have been one of the uploaders in this case.

i absolutely do not understand why they keep everything about this a secret. like the user in your screenshot wrote: Namig the titles does not equal sharing its content.

if its true that they have been sent a list by a "legal nexus" , just publish this list.
and why not simply name this hidden entity ?

why is it not possible ? what makes it impossible ? will they be sued by some idiots if they name the title and the idiots organization ?

if someone wants to remain anonymous so badly they have something to hide.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be inclined to poke the bear.
What's the alternative though?

We've seen there's zero consequences, and zero promises upheld. Nothing has happened. Many pages back someone asked for "constructive solutions" - that wasn't worth replying to, as seen now: there was never any chance for anything constructive in the first place.

It's all still secret, there's still no accountability, no thorough explanation; there's no concrete step for future improvements, and the only ones one-sidedly having to actually deal with consequences are users, I mean, consumers. Or costumers. Staff might as well have been posting "lorem ipsum" from the start.

I assumed the "We can't answer this" and "I've been advised not to" were in response to asking for the name of the people who requested the removal as that would make sense from a legal perspective (don't think they've ever named who requests take downs). But who knows 🤷‍♂️

they did in the dmca transparency page on the main site. and according to neko this page is supposed to be added with the entries from the DMCA purge

i dont see any problems in making public who requested the takedown
if its an organization its already a public figure

Not to mention that, like the UMA Musume Doujin that's the latest takedown in the report at the moment of writing this, the name of the one taking down can also tell you pretty much nothing.

No, you're totally right. I hallucinated that it only said the country of origin, but unfortunately, like panzer said, they can just make a dummy organization to file it through.
welp. if they just can will make shit up anyway . . .
sorry bestboy, my bad

i seriously thought this would be some usable information like on lumen database

So you think we should all just guess if something suddenly stops appearing in our feeds, even if we have hundreds of followed series?

This is like announcing that the site is unreliable. Do you guys have ANYTHING to announce that isn't a slap in the face to your users? Most websites don't have trouble coming up with posts that meet that criteria.

Really? I think she was too harsh. She gave the same treatment to those who were being disrespectful and to those who were making light jokes: a permanent ban.

What if she decides to persecute who gave her a negative score? Would that be poking the bear, too?
Honestly, I'm surprised that a strike spamming also gives you a permanent ban. Did she ban Seer too?

I never said the permanent ban was a fair punishment, I just said it should have been expected given Neko's past reactions towards people having opposing opinions.

Well then that happens. I don't think Neko is that dumb to do that, but I have been wrong in the past and I will be wrong about things in the future. I just hope if it does come to that others will step up.

Seriously, getting a permanent ban just for expressing your opinion through a reaction is tyrannical.

I could understand if someone, say, went through your post history and started striking old and unrelated comments as some kind of revenge. But that's not possible in this case, since Neko only had like a dozen messages to begin with and nearly all of them were during this incident.

Judging how she also unbanned Seer, it's safe to say she did ban him. I'm worried if anyone else will get banned due to this...

Not answering who Legal Nexus is is fine and all.
Sometimes enforcement communications include language discouraging redistribution of the notice and the content itself.
This Legal Nexus is probably an outsourcing company. They likely don't give a shit how DEX operates.
They probably demand shit like total confidential during the takedown process.
But yeah not even show what take down is kinda look retarded.
But despite all this, things shouldn’t have escalated like this if certain someone knew how to moderate properly.
