Get you a friend like Eiji who cares enough to smack some sense into you.

I'm glad it seems this isn't going to be dragged out in any manner, if we're jumping to Souta confronting her & her parents in less than three chapters from the point Nagi said goodbye to him. The pacing makes me feel far less conflicted about introducing this particular plot point.

And it sorta makes sense - it's an easy way to install drama into the narrative, while addressing Nagi being adopted, and also addressing her history of not speaking her mind or really having any sense of self-possession. Souta cracked her small world open, and now he's going to help her find her agency and ego when it comes to the direction of her life.

Yes, there might have been "better" ways to do so than invoke an arranged marriage plot device born out of a misunderstanding by her parents, but as-is, this is at least on-theme for a lot of this sort of story with a "well-bred ojou-sama" type heroine character, so it'd be familiar to long-time readers of the genre. Thus, it's a "safe" bet, and since it's not being dragged out and filled with multiple chapters of melodrama (at least it seems at this point), I think the author can be granted leniency.

I'm sure that given time, I could think of a different way to address Nagi's need to be more assertive and be okay with having wants and desires, but I think I've talked myself into being okay with how the narrative's progressing to hit those points, now.

Just like in the WN/LN, I'm glad this drama arc is not being dragged out. Personally, I absolutely hated that a wholesome story like this needed to include this type of trope when there's so much more an author could write about, but I'm glad the MC isn't a bitch and is standing his ground.

Chapter 17: Souta Minori arrives at Nagi's house in the morning and encounters Nagi's father and explains that Nagi will NOT be happy with this arranged marriage. The father realizes that Nagi is actually in love with Souta, but she has never told either parents that Souta even exists (both parents believe Nagi has no male friends). Nagi's father apologizes to Souta for accidentally forcing Nagi into a situation where she believes she has to accept this arranged marriage, and tells Souta that he will be cancelling this arranged marriage.

Chapter 18: As all of this is happening, Nagi and her mother has been outside the room, both overhearing the entire conversation between Souta and her father, and both finally decide to enter the room. The parents explain to Nagi that the reason they brought up this arranged marriage was because they thought Nagi struggled with talking to boys, and hoped this arranged marriage could help her overcome her fear. They only brought it up because they didn't know Nagi was already talking to Souta and was already in love with a boy. After a bit of back and forth between Nagi and her parents, Nagi's foster father reaffirms they will be cancelling this arranged marriage and leave the room to allow Nagi and Souta to privately talk. The two make up and reconfirm their love for each other, and both CLEARLY state they want to be with each other forever (including marriage).

Chapter 19: After their talk, it's now roughly lunch time, and Nagi and Souta leave the Nagi household to meet up with their friends (since Souta Minori came to the Nagi's household with their friends who are waiting outside the house). Nagi and Souta thanks all their close friends for helping them realize their true feelings for each other and they all hang out at Souta's apartment for awhile before their friends finally head home for today.

Chapter 20: Before leaving the household, Nagi took with her a giant backpack filled with clothes and other living necessities, but didn't tell Souta what was inside the backpack. Now that their friends have left and it's just the two of them alone in Souta's apartment, she essentially "forces" Souta to allow her to stay over for tonight. The two end up kissing, cuddling and sleeping in the same small bed tonight (no s3ggs).

Unfortunately, their first time having s3ggs together will happen the night after New Years, after they return to Souta's apartment after visiting Souta's parents for New Years. They were actually about to have s3ggs at Souta's parents home, but decided against it since it would be inappropriate to have s3ggs while his parents are literally sleeping in the same house. Based on current pacing, this will probably happen somewhere around Chapter 30 of the manga.

Note: After this drama arc, Nagi and Souta Minori's relationship is pretty much full out-in-the-open, and they constantly say "I love you" to each other, both in private and public, as well as hold hands/arms, and kiss each other practically every chapter (sometimes it's actually a bit too much, but very wholesome). Nagi even immediately calls out other students when they shit talk about Souta, saying things like he's not good enough for Nagi. This is a very nice part of the story since they don't try to hide their relationship at each other's schools (fuck that romance trope).

Eiji is not friends, but a brother from another mother that bound by brotherhoods.

and instead trying to find a friend like Eiji, we should strive to be like him to our bros

I like and dislike that things are going this fast. I hate that every "rich girl" story has to have this obstacle. Especially, in a great wholesome story like this! But if they're going to insert drama and angst, I want it to linger a bit more lol. BUT we must eat what we've been served, and I am glad Eiji showed up and gave the MC the push he needed.

Unlike her wannabe fiancee who has to force this connection through Family, our MC actually has the balls to show up in person and tell her parents WHY he likes her
