But aren't the ingredients to make glass right there in the soil? (silica etc..). How is that different from a hardened wall? (also contains silica etc)..
Was thinking the same thing lmao, how is making bulletproof glass “going against causality” when this other world should also have the same resources used to make it on Earth?

probably a problem with ratios? compressing a fuckton of dirt to the point it's hard as steel doesn't really change the material, you're just using magic as some kind of ultra-powerful hydraulic press. turning sand into glass makes sense due to the sheer amount of silica etc., but turning mud and topsoil into perfectly transparent glass requires a much more drastic change with more steps in-between & this dumbass of an mc is clearly just trying to use magic to skip directly from A to C without even trying to, like... dry it and turn it to sand first or whatever that'd be more plausible. like using magic to transform a bunch of live silkworms directly into a shirt without letting them make cocoons first, you know?

that's probably a stretch but honestly I respect the author's half-hearted attempt to put a cap on MC's power level instead of letting him be completely omnipotent from the hop, we have enough of those series already & giving this kind of MC some degree of challenge is definitely the best avenue for potential comedy IMO
