Earth. As in, ground or dirt. The thing beneath your feet (what you walk on in the wilds) is the thing beneath your feet (the planet). It's a pretty logically direct evolution of the word. The more involved/particular nomenclature of things coinciding might be more contrived, but we have to remember that we probably are translating everything they are saying, which kind of makes the point moot.

That, or the makers of this game were taking lazy shortcuts.
