Honestly, it's refreshing to have the tournament arc end so quickly. Or, at least the story's focus on the tournament matches. Not that I dislike tournament arcs: YuYu Hakusho and History's Stongest Disciple Kenichi had fantastic tournament arcs, and so do many others.

But Al's tournament ending here is a breath of fresh air, and it's in-line with how we've seen him develop, as well as the more grounded nature of this manga.

I don't think the fiancée character is seeing Al in a romantic light... more like happy that Al didn't underestimate and take it easy on her? Like the fight was refreshing for her.

But, I'm generally on team childhood friends, so I am biased.

i feel it's refreshing that the MC isn't a participant.

Like ever time a tournament arc appears in any other story, the MC got to be in it and got to be a winner. Oh and the MC is treated like the underdog and then OMG he's not!... those types of arcs are so lame. This is quite cool. It builts up the supporting characters.

Tbh for me the Noble seems... fine? Hes very naiive and bit bratish, but not unbearable tbh. And its not like he doesnt have character progression, he seems to know that hes unexperienced so he also knows he needs to change, which is tbh far ahead than other nobles
Also his reason to not to want to marry is valid. She's his past abuser who he has trauma from that has never made any attempt to apologize or make amends. I don't get why everyone is just neglecting this aspect of their relationship.

That too, but I will say that the underdog thing does work... if the story bothers to build them up in such a way that it's plausible. But that requires skill and effort on the author's part and not just giving the character everything on a silver platter.

Mainly because no such aspect has been confirmed, the way he worded it sounded to me like they were training together when he was young and he could never beat her. Having seen her temperament now I really see no reason to infer otherwise.

You could argue it's 'abusive' that he's been obligated by his family to train and practice his whole life, and to have his marriage arranged, but that's simply within the responsibilities you inherit when being born into a noble house.

It's not just family expectations, you have an entire territory's population depending on him to govern their civil administration in peace and lead their defense in war, and he doesn't seem well prepared for either.

For the people it's a good thing he's been set up with a fiancé who will take the defense of their realm seriously, I just hope she doesn't also have to manage everything else while he shirks responsibilities to continue taking advantage of his privileges for leisure.

Personalist plugsuit GET! Al did a great showing, all things considered. Will Haruka have to fight, now?
