The story shares the core premise of revenge and regression with Revenge of the Sword Clan's Hound. But this is the smarter version. This is still a shallow and stupid story of having too much knowledge in your MC and that knowledge being pulled out of the MC’s ass to save the day every time.

I mention the Hound story because if you read that one, it makes this seem like Isaac Asimov. The two are the same story but this author actually makes the right decisions and judgements based on how the MC alters the timeline. It’s predictable and theres no tension. But the MC doesn’t frustrate you by holding on to old shit from the past life that clearly no longer applies.

Not great, but far superior to the dogshit Hound story.

From 1-10, how would you rate this series?

The running theme for this series seems to be a love of setting up rules for the setting and then breaking those rules somehow. As much as I am still able to enjoy the overall progression I do find it concerningly predictable that rules WILL be broken even if I don't know exactly how. Friends are not friends, and enemies end up not being enemies. The strong aren't the strongest, the weak have more impact than they ought to. And it goes without saying that whatever you are told about the political situation and history, it's all a farce. That said, it is nice to see loyal people who stay loyal.

6.5/10 if it wasn’t for the art, it would be a 5/10. The story seems to drag on a bit too much. No matter how great MC is, the “villain” is always just a bit smarter since he has to be for the story to linger and meander. The story comes out swinging, but starts flailing around after round 2.

8.5/10 as far as I am concerned, simply because I value certain characteristics in an image-format narrative vastly more than others. Artstyle, pacing, world-building, narrative tone, and character interactions are all very enjoyable, therefore I am happy.

Art 7/10. Good but only slightly above average for this time and age
Storyline 8/10 extremely good storyline and development but a little too fast
Execution 6/10 not very good execution, pretty confusing and lots of plot armor as explanations. One good thing however is that it's consistent.
Overall 7/10. Good story and art but execution is kind of confusing and too much plot armor for the beginning. Really good read for the storyline but needs a rework with more explanation and slightly slower pace
I got this from the first 16 chapters so hopefully it gets better

Got to chapter thirty something. It got better. I would rate it about 8/10. Also why the hell is his nanny drawn to be so young looking? His nanny is probably 40+ already(been with mc since he was younger then 9 year old or something) she should be looking like an old woman not a goddamn potential mc's future wife

Let's make a list of op immunities the mc has.
1. Extreme fire resistance(practically complete immunity)
2. Poison immunity(to most poisons)
3. Overall damage resistance(mc has rucha-something body which is extremely resilient and resistant)
Honarable mention: mana resistance(effects almost every spell under 7 stars he later loses this so it doesn't really count)
Things that can effect him:
1. magic spells excluding fire
2. Strong physical damage
3. That's it
4. No seriously mc is op

MC genuinely wants to bootlick and be acknowledged by the very same people who threw him away and let him die like a dog in his past life.

All the attention and praises he got during his second life is because he is talented and powerful. They're fake and hypocritical and his family is incapable of feeling affection unless it is for the powerful and talented.

This is a case where the target is obviously for revenge, but MC bootlicks instead and somehow the story and most people who read it think this is fine.

I dropped this out of sheer disgust a few chapters in. Every year or so I come back thinking maybe I was wrong because this work is so highly rated, but it's the same every time.

Usually the hook of regression is enough for me to keep reading but after 12 chapters of just boringness I just cant. All exposition dumps and MC getting OP powers for free. Where’s the action and sword fighting for a sword clan? He doesn’t get sword training till he’s 10 after leaving the house for babies, and even then it looks like basic sword training after a 4 year time skip. No clear motive in second life too other than vague “become strongest”, and doesn’t even try to find who cursed him.

Another commenter from 2 years ago compared this to Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound which Im caught up on. Calling Bloodhound dogshit when compared to this manhwa is straight capping. Hound MC starts his second life as a regular baby and earns his powers during the second life through his knowledge and experience from previous life. He has a clear and obvious revenge motive to drive his growth. There’s action within 10 chapters and he fights for his life before he’s even 8 years old.

This is like a 5/10 beginning and I can’t bring myself to read more to find out if it’s worth the 8.83/10 later on in the story.

Honestly it is worth the 8.83/10 I would say. Me personally I would give it something like 8.

He isn't bootlicking anybody. He just knows he can't beat his father yet so he is training to beat him. If you read till the latest chapters you will understand just how powerful his father is(he sent a person who mc can only just barely scratch and that same person was quite easily beaten by MC's father. Also mc says that he can now SURVIVE one clash with his father which implies that he is not even close to being able to beat his father and all these comes from the latest chapters.) his relationship with all his siblings is horrible(with the exception of two of his sisters) and his goal is still to kill the person who put the curse on him. Which from what I can see from the latest chapters might be very soon. Also his father has responsibilities which is why he threw him away in his past life which the mc understands(but still wants to take revenge). In conclusion, don't jump to conclusions. This concludes my paragraph.

It's an OK read, just another shounen where the opponents get progressively more powerful. New arc happens with new location and stronger opponents, fighting happens, level up skills, item obtained, rinse and repeat. Art is pretty good, and the the characters are interesting (in fact, the characters are definitely this manhwas strongest point). World building is uh... Well, there IS a setting, but you're better of not thinking about it too much, just go along with it.

There's nothing that really sticks out as "wow, this is amazing", but if you have time to kill and nothing else to read, then this is good enough if you want to turn your brain off for a while.

There is one thing that REALLY bugs me plot wise (I'm at chapter 121 so far), which is that it seems like the entire story could be resolved by simply

killing Bubarre, who seems to be key to all the future developments, and seems to also be a weakling. I guess he's probably going to have like a 2nd phase boss fight, but even so, it's weird that MC has not even attempted or entertained the idea of killing him as of yet given what he knows and how blazé they are about killing in this story

This isn't something I'd recommend, but I'll begrudgingly give it 7/10 so far on its merits, and lack of anything that particularly stands out as bad.

Zero nutritional value in this, just pure empty calories.

Can't help but agree. Did that guy read the same two stories as the rest of us? One man's peak is another's mid, I suppose.
