The manga is so good, especially with the choreography, compared to the anime (and probably the LN since that's what the anime is based on). I want more of Beryl-sensei's swordsmanship!

From what little i know. There's a lot of grappling techniques centered around knocking the opponent down and to grab some dagger or mailbreaker to slip in between gaps like the neck or the armpit or through the visor

The entire weight is spread throughout the bodily limbs. Unlike modern rucksack/backpack worn by soldiers which entire 20kg is dangling on your shoulders, medieval plate-shells are worn on hand, shin, feet, torso, etc. It will definitely be heavy, but not to the point you cannot get up if you do get knocked down. Dark Souls sluggish dodge-roll is actually p accurate.

Pinning them down, however, with yourself wearing the same metal plates, is definitely a viable tactic.

probably just to get under her skin. its been aluecia's dream to make beryl famous or atleast recognised by the kingdom regarding his mastery with the sword. so she join the knights and rise up the ranks where she can formally invite her master to teach her subordinates of his sword style.

and i think most if not all beryl's students are quite frustrated that their school got dubbed 'backwater style' (just my own opinion) even some of the kingdom's well known fencer, swordmen were trained with basics from that particular school.

or its probably beryl's fault that he solely focused on honing his skills and his charges/students that he doesn't participate in any martial events or tournaments. if i remember right, beryl's got traumatised when he was young that he avoid conflicts and part of his humble nature that he doesn't seek out recognitions/prestige.
