So many chapters ago when the guards were gossiping that there were thieves that turned themselves in and raved about being beat by an old lady? I was saying that THAT old lady was probably the one who did it. She might be a former knight or something and still had her skills.

i think the goddess knows that this time Hans will succeed, so she decided to make an appearance. she then looked at it to speed up the process so she could taste the new type of tofu sooner

I think a lot of people are confused here. The fox is not the actual god, she is just the god's divine messenger.
That's why the fox here and the fox in Gen are different. They're different foxes guarding/residing in different shrines, but they serve the same god.

Do hope that Hans actually found something that worked and it wasn't just all fox magic

Inari/Uka no Mitama, the god she serves, is the god of food and grain, so she probably just used her powers to analyse the beans and identify that it can work as soy substitute.

I recently read Gen and I love the dichotomy between the two gods. Nobu's is mysterious and suddenly appears out of nowhere, while Gen's just appears whenever, orders a kids meal, and plays on the Nintendo switch.

My comment about the god was not to you, it's a general comment because I'm seeing multiple people saying she is the god. My reply to you is just the second half where I said she probably just scanned the beans. Just didn't want to make two separate posts.

No, the intervention of the fox just gave the mix the time to coagulate, instead of being immediately thrown away.
The problem is that Hans was trying to use the same recipe of soy beans, just replacing the beans: in reality, you can make "tofu" with almost any legumes, and many other different seeds....

the way they describe the new beans actually seems similar to raw soybeans I've purchased. I'd eaten them raw and they were like styrofoam (I'd purchase them thinking that they were roasted). and the grassy or inedible taste was also a feature of it, though the case of me eating the ones that have been vacuumed sealed, I don't know if fresh soybeans are different

That's Eleonora's mother. If you look at the crest on her dress, it's a harpy. She's definitely beating the shit out of the thugs—how else would she have been able to run a guild with such rough characters if she wasn't strong as hell?

Kinda don't think so, the crest is a dragon or a unicorn. Harpies have a human head.
You can see it more clearly in the chapter she first appeared in.
She might be one of the foreign nobles invited to the party, or maybe someone sent to spy on Celestine? Who knows.
