I know Moe-chan is not even on the MCs thoughts and not supposed to be the "winning" heroine in this type of series but she is definitely wining over me I can help wanting to cheer up for her. I hope for a happy ending

It’s quite astonishing how many people gaslit themselves into believing that Hebikawa is after Keisuke because she genuinely likes him. She doesn’t. She’s only after him because she wants to get to Kusunoki; her worldview simply can’t acknowledge the existence of someone like Kusunoki.
Honestly thought I was being crazy given how many fans she seems to have. That girl does not like Keisuke, she just operates on a hater grindset.

It's 'cos it's a mix of people and reasons that they are drawn to her.

Some are deluded into thinking she has a chance, or actively seeks one, with Keisuke. Some just like to "root for the heel", and some think she's actually an interesting character within the narrative, and some are doing it because it pisses off other people in the comments.

Moe Tsun'd herself out of a massive win. Many such cases. SAD!

The fan base about 75% ironic, 60% Horny, and about 40% Trying to rile up the Snekhaters. But also the fact that girl is completely down bad, but in denial in large part because the thing she REALLY hates the most is herself.

Nice try putting together all these panels from different chapters to make it look like I’m wrong, as if the timeline doesn’t matter, but this is the moment in chapter 39 when Hebikawa decided to go after Keisuke:

No, @Freeland is right. She is like the Hater version of Tsundere.
Like one step from the yanderes who want to ruin their crush's life so all they have is them, except what Hebi hates the most is herself and everyone else is just along for the ride.

So are you saying she's not allowed to change for the better or gain an improved reputation simply because she did bad shit in the past?

I absolutely would argue Hebikawa won't "win the Keisuke Bowl", nor should she as things stand, but it's not because she was a bad person in the past.

If she puts in the work to change and accepts responsibility for what she did before, there's no reason to eternally persecute her for things she can't undo.

And that sentiment is one that I see all over the forums when it comes to characters with checkered pasts in various series, that I'd argue is actively harmful both as a sentiment in reality and as a means of better one's ability to critically analyze and critique a given written work.
I'd argue it's other way around: way too many characters in various manga are immediately forgiven and accepted after just saying "sorry, my bad" once, despite their various bullying and abuse done before. The worst cases involve abusive parents, I guess maybe it's the influence of Confucianist values, but far too few characters in manga are actually allowed to carry a grudge.

One of the best moments in "A Place Further than the Universe" was when one of the girls thought she's obliged by norms and moral conventions to forgive people who were shitty to her, but publicly apologized as soon as girls become somewhat famous. She was still feeling angry at those people though, and the others convinced her it's perfectly OK and within her rights to not be graceful and keep holding the grudge. It's so fucking rare outside of edgy revenge manga that people who are shitty are actually made to suffer some long-term consequences, even after they say "sorry".

Right - but there's a difference in whether the abuser actually changes as a person.

I don't mean blanket forgiveness for apology lip service. I mean Hebikawa actually has a reckoning with her worldview that compels her to reevaluate how she interacts with the universe and everyone in it.

Like, genuine contrition and an assuming of responsibility for her actions and behavior and mindset. She puts in the work, is she not allowed to seek and earn forgiveness?

Because a lot of people would still say "no, once sinned, forever damned" like there's nothing more to a person no matter what they try to do to atone.

Sometimes villains are dumb and poorly-written to be flat hateable throwaways, but given the tone of this series, actual redemption isn't off the table for Hebikawa, and if she puts in the effort, I don't see why she should be barred from some measure of absolution.
