Simple he is a vehicle for more lewd stuff. It's why the author even gave him a similar body type to the protagonist "see it's close enough no?" And even though he was an antagonist, he was still a part of the temple so he can fulfill his role as a "redeemed ally who is useful".

A whole chapter that's mostly lewd flashbacks is kinda boring tho
