That's a dreadful road. No sleeping in the wagon. It's a small wonder the wagon is still in one piece.

This reminds me of that Garp scene from One Piece. and his name is Lawrence “D.” Falcon too, is he from the “D” family or something? :dogkek:

That assthat used a spear to destroy a fort wall? an unmagical SPEAR? not a metal ball or a rock?
I mean a spear is rather weak compared with a cannon ball or a rock. it would be destroyed when hitting the wall. and IF you should have tossed it So hard that it went near light speed.. it would burn up.
damn my rational mind.

Oh, I think I read the web novel of this. I just remembered because it happened very differently. The second arc, after Hikaru saved Lavia, the knight who lost to him was about to be punished with the death sentence for losing to a mere "thief". The knight wasn't Lawrence, rather a knight within his order, Lawrence is the captain and the one who decided the punishment.

Feeling bad for the guy, Hikaru traveled to the capital under the guise of doing transport(?) quest. There, he attacked few other knights inside the royal castle for a few days. Lawrence was his last target, after everything, the punishment was lifted.

I didn't read further since it was very different. I think there are a few other informations, like how the king is imbecile(he only works from 10 to 2, aka 4 hours a day, and can't be disturbed outside this time for any reason, yet wanted to start a war, wanted to have Lavia power), the princess is very proactive(because of the said king).

The road IS terrible and travelling along it would be bad. But considering wagons and carts tend to travel around walking speed, it's not going to smash the heck out of the wheels as much as you'd think. It also looks like it might have some kind of spring suspension (top panel on page 3), which would make it both more comfortable to ride in, and less stress on the axles and wheels.

It's still a dreadful road though. IMO they'd be better off with just a pack horse or two and walking. Especially since they don't look to have much equipment with them (because they never do in these things).

That's indeed true. The slow speed helps a lot. It's pretty funny the road was still built on purpose, it's not merely a path that formed on its own below the feet of travellers, maybe only having got the bigger obstacles removed. No, folks purposefully paved it with those large pieces of rock, creating the super uneven surface. Anyone making the trip on foot would be wiser walking next to the road. Much smoother and much less chances of your foot suddenly getting stuck between rocks, twisting your ankle.

Yeah the webnovel follows a completely different path after the fire dragon incident where he called for the King to step down. The manga adaptation is very similar to the light novel, so if you wanted to read ahead, there are a number of volumes translated.

@nobody2002 @ZeroNihilum

What I find funny is that Lawrence is destroying the walls to their own fortress. True the enemy has captured it, but rather then negotiate the release of Jillarte, they would rather go full wrecking ball then anything remotely peaceful.

Disclaimer: This was from the webnovel so the LN and manga might differ.

The system is very wacky but does try to make sense roughly. It literally forces the effect to take place based on your stats while experience with that skill refines usage. With experience, stats which are more honed and towards the upper skill ranks becomes something akin to off-brand reality manipulation like we see with Hiraku's stealth where he can stand in front of things and not be noticed most of the time. Most folks don't overcome the walls of skills because it takes certain luck and training to get higher levels in a skill, iirc the average was something like 3 or 4 for most adventures, but those that have high skills can do some crazy things.

In this case the weapon the knight throws will do higher level damage with better accuracy because of his skills, the materials decide if the spear survives or hurts more when it hits but the result are set as "the spear will likely hit the target it's thrown at dealing better damage then normal". With some magical math, the results becomes something like of strength level x (applicable) skill(s) level x material composition + experience equal wall explosion. The only reason I didn't weigh expereince as heavy is because Hiraku can forcefully level a stat up and reach the level of a hero but he doesn't just get technices applicable to the leveled skill or know how to use it to its full effect. Despite this, the high level stat still forces the effect to take place even if he makes mistakes that only an amatuer would.

All that to say Lawarnce, the Knight throwing spears, is a monster human as far as anyone Hiraku's met to this point is concerned with skill stats that are at minimum above average. Only one other person in Pond I can remember could beat Lawarence in a fight but not straight up and they've had much longer to train since they're not human.
