Oh, this is getting serious in a really good way. She's treating even a friend correctly, while Kimura's distancing himself is standing out more and more in universe.
If you don't mind sharing, what happened in that story? I remembered reading it a bit, then wondered how the story seems to be straying from its initial premise, then kinda forgot it existed.God if this turns out to be an actually good version of "The girl I saved on the train was my childhood friend" I will be a happy angry. Happy because its good. Angry because I had to be reminded of that steaming pile of shit known masquerading as a romcom.

The train in particular. Either his mom left them or she jumped, and the reason he says "from what dad tells me, she passed," might be that he was too traumatized and blocked it.
