Oda saw all our theories that Lady Candelle was a holy knight or betrayed everyone to become one, and nipped that in the bud right quick :dogkek:

so they didnt just turn Shuri and have her kill her papa, but pit them against each other :qq: i guess flashback we saw of her screaming out for him was right before this reversi (if thats what happened, Imu isnt there unless hes that giant bird demon standing over Reuven's body)

man I really really don't like the implications of the timing between Candelle suddenly becoming bedridden after a celestial dragon visited, and the sudden marriage with Reuven + Shuri's birth some time after. Between that, a "mysterious mist" that just happens to specifically take away instruments and the ability to sing in a music-centric kingdom, and a God's Knight(?) that seems to be wearing a hat similar to the one we saw Gunko wear showing up at the end of the chapter and it feels like this all arose from a celestial/knight being vindictive over being denied access to their biological child

would also maybe explain why Gunko was allowed to be an attendant to Imu for some time if she has celestial blood

while we've already had two flashbacks, I really want Shuri/Gunko's POV to complete the picture sooner rather than later. Would also be nice to see a lil of Reuven, Candelle, and Shuri being a happy family together before All Of This went down.......

I like Brook singing about adventures he is going to have.

What a sad fate. Imu needs to suffer for all he's done.

Damn, I'm pretty sure the country is burnt to ash after this. The World Government aren't going to negotiate with a country who can no longer answer their tithes or who tried to rebel if they can't pay up.

Still, not only the queen's death but that toxic mist really damned the country. Knowing the World Government, I have suspicion that there's more to that mist than what was implied.

was that one the Gorosei???
I don't think so, unless he seriously screws something up very soon, as he's not one of the current ones and they are immortal (Saturn was over 200 years old when Imu undid his immortality).

Edit: Oh the bird! I didn't even see the bird in the fold at first reading! Yeah that's Mars for sure!

Ah, darn, don't you just hate it when one of the two people you said you would die to defend ends up killing the other, so you can't even try to avenge the dead one?

The last page with Mars behind Leuven and Cigarette Man sitting closer to Shuri makes me think they were having some sort of contest, making their "gladiators" fight in their place.

Ah, so that's why Brook said he never wanted to see Shuri ever again.

Does this mean Brook already knew way in advance about how bad the World Government actually is and about the Celestial Dragons? Why didn't he say anything during Sabaody arc?

I suspected that Candelle was a God's Knight, and honestly after this chapter I kinda wished she really was one. Like, at least there would be one less deceased woman whose drives and motivations revolve around a man.

I just notice at the king's corpse. He have a horn and wing. Do it mean Domi's DF power affect him, too? And see the "battle result", I somehow understand that the king couldn't kill his own daughter, even under the Domi's effect. :meguuusad::fml:

Probably they were made to kill each other. The CD's enjoy cruelty and despair after all, pitting father against daughter in a battle to death...

I really don't like it as well, but I can clearly picture that. Candelle is a beauty, the celestial Dragons know no bound when it comes to having their way with anything seen as "lesser". The kind king wouldn't abandon his wife after such horrible fact, they probably married and decided to raise the offspring of the celestial dragon as one of their own after that. The way the king refers to the celestial dragons as them and how they know that slavery in the holy land means death points towards a deeply hatred of the celestial dragons and also that they had some involvement in the mist that engulfed the kingdom. However, it's not clear yet the reason - whether it was to "cover" a CD mingling with lowly humans, rage over not giving away Gunko since she was "half" celestial, forcing the kingdom to give away their people as slaves since they always need to be replenished to serve in marijoa or for unclear purposes.
