Honestly i feel kinda bad for the monster here, like obviously not in a "they did nothing wrong" but it's clear that those creatures do not operate on human emotions and reasoning and interacting with us is introducing them to new feelings and for the first time for that "girl" did those two clash and it lead to her death. Perhaps in a kinder world it would have been different

Yeah, I thought it was notable that both Niehara and the Hiraizumi monster's deaths were treated with gravitas and pathos. Itou is not the "good guy," she's just following her own personal principles.

exactly it's not just "evil monsters eating people cause they're evil" it's a creature who is learning to be "human" yet at the same time is trying to follow its instincts of "monster" and when they come into clash well

Man. There's a lot to talk on here but. I think my favorite detail is that shallow, dreadful 'But only creepy losers make Great Art, right???' probably inherited from that awful human who first found that person.

It's a very common assumption. Surely, well rounded people with life experience can't make great art! Being awkward and shitty is just the natural price for talent! People with fulfilling lives could never make something about feeling outcast!
