that bit about false report remind me of fallout new vegas side quest on how the ncr command center got strange report about legionare attack the border with cyborg deathclaw or smth and how some checkpoint send request for more bullets but they got gallons of water instead
I remember this quest. This is the quest where you stole Ranger Sequoia from the culprit. Best pistol EVEEEEEER!!!

His story would be proven correct just by waiting a day or two and counting the number of monsters that flood in every morning, like he said. Or just ask where he buried the bodies. :dogkek:
I got no comment on the monster portion but I bet when it came to the enemy soldiers he's a wet dishrag and didn't kill any of them. And there probably won't be any real enemy skirmishes for a while because the elite lady probably reported back to her superiors that he's too powerful even for her to handle and that if they want to leave such an asset in such a backwater location it'd be best to let them believe its the right choice.

Or am I giving the author too much credit?

Gotta love sloppy officers in sloppy manga about sloppy country with bunch of slops peeps being sloppy starring a slop clueless MC.
The slop flows fiercely within this one. May the Lord of Slop never stop slopping and let the power of the Slop forever pulsate throughout the nation.

He's a 'traveler' so he's not from around there. Possibly a former adventurer - those guys tend to have a poor understanding of their strength. Also, he was alone all throughout his deployment. He's obviously naturally ignorant, but never had a chance to know better.
That kind of person only exists in fiction. No individual who can solo kill human armies and hoards of magical beasts think they are weak. Nor would they just stand there while being accused of making false statements and lying about their actions.

If he was capable of such slaughter he would have just simply pushed the guards away and shown the noble asshole the mass grave he had created over the last few months and then asked if he and his men wanted join the dead in their dirt nap.

O . o;

NGL, this story seems to be a dumpsterfire from the beginning. The ground is wet and muddy, yet the nation is experiencing such a drought that their farms have withered away?

Then the military leaders are so incompetent that only one mercenary is sent north to defend their boarder, then when he not only survives, but also reports that he is fighting both beasts and intruders they try to court martial him for falsely reporting his actions? And worse he just accepts the poor treatment...

Some times I wonder which is worse, the authors education, or me for continuing to read this slop.

Well, it's not like we're reading a biography, so fantastic and comedic tropes aren't out of place here. And though exaggerated, unfortunately a lot of people can relate to being an honest worker who reports issues within an organization in good faith only to get punished by higher-ups who'd rather pretend there is no problem.

We don't know where he's from, but maybe he wasn't all that amazing on his home turf. Being new here, he surely doesn't know other people's power levels. This is also relatable, when your new workplace is surprisingly much less competent than your last.

He may be strong but not necessarily smart, and apparently not aggressive enough to argue. And one way or another he was being relieved of horrible border duty.

There is exaggerated, and then there is the 1:10000 morality reversed setting exaggerated.

He was assigned to defend a nation's northern border by himself, so that the nation's military could invade south. Then when he called for reinforcements because someone invaded, they skipped right over any pretense of investigation and went straight to accusations of misconduct and false information.

We don't know where he's from, but maybe he wasn't all that amazing on his home turf. Being new here, he surely doesn't know other people's power levels. This is also relatable, when your new workplace is surprisingly much less competent than your last.
NGL, any nation where he would be considered anything less then an elite, would be rightly feared by the rest of the world.

O . o;

To accept the terms he has, then gloss over the abuses of authority, and happily view his confinement and treatment as a vacation, not smart is a horrible understatement.

So he's one of those usual dense overpowered fantasy harem manga leads, but the twist is he's also a sociopathic killer. Got it.

Man, this subgenre of "I'm actually the strongest OP MF'er alive" isekai or pseudo-isekai fantasy stories are old enough that the genre should be in its decline phase. What are we doing here with this super generic, baby's first time writing version of things?

There's no interesting hook. No subversion. No cool twist or tweak. It's just a paint-by-numbers generic retread of the genre with nothing going for it.

So of course it's probably going to get 100 chapters and an anime.

This whole country 100% needs to be destroyed if no one believes him because that would mean the incompetence starts from the top :shamihuh:

Also pleaseeeeeeee for the love of god, stop acting like your a NORMAL dude MC, I really hope he realizes quick that he's OP knowing that he solo defended and even beat 50+ dudes

But yea who am I kidding it usually NEVER goes that route :angery:
Well, monsters are people who assume they are "normal"... when they're clearly not. Normal people don't kill dozens single-handedly and not expect stupid superior to F them over. There is a fine line between a "hero" and a "monster", and atm I'm inclined to believe the MC is no hero, but a monster from his atypical bloodlust-fueled power-up.
I wish more stories would have MCs with more self-awareness or learn some self-awareness... but we'll see how long this train runs.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how Japanes readers feel about this genre of brain dead MCs? Main characters who can split mountains and oceans and somehow aren’t aware of their strength as well as having no idea how the barest fraction of society works?
