Does shrine even do anything in this series?
Shrine and temples in this context are usually like when you give a ex-ruler who is still political threat a “comfortable retirement” somewhere “peaceful and quiet” (read: where they’re unable to meddle with the living) to live out the rest of their life.

Instead of doing public execution (exorcising them).

Or just imagine Ghostbusters’ storage vault.

Damn senpai teacher making her kouhai cry trying to defend a damn child, jeez.

Also, hopefully they do get properly rid of those clothes at said shrine, wouldn't want anything bad happening to that family.

you know, i don't think Asemi is ready to handle a class of kindergarten kids. have you interact with kids? they're all weird as heck, some weirder than others. but you still have to listen to them if you want them to listen to you as their teacher

The problem actually stems from Kaya herself. Most normies can't see spirits, but continued exposure to Kaya makes part of her rub off on nearby susceptible normies, allowing them to see ghosts too. The returning teacher stayed too long near Kaya, became able to see ghosts for a moment, was almost killed by one as a result, and had a nervous breakdown. She took a sabbatical until recently. Kaya is beginning to realize this, and she's worried that she'll hurt those close to her now...

to this new teacher I say "skill issue" then 😒 its not my sweet daughter kaya's fault she was born with this power! just let chie-sensei help her while she can!

Revisit chapter 1 and 2.
Chie has definitely seen ghosts. "How" is another matter entirely.
Chie can barely see the vaguest of things because she has a tiny fraction of spiritual sensitivity, and kaya is taking longer to rub off on her. She relies on Kaya's family and Mob to tell what's going on. Asemi has a ton of spiritual sensitivity, and shifted into high gear much faster, to where she nearly died. The mom and dad have zero sensitivity.

It will explain more in Chapter 55 and 57.

I thought Chie-Sensei was able to see ghost/spirits? Did she lose that during the birth of Kaya's sister?
From the beginning of the series, she has never been able to see them; she has been a victim, yet could only experience the paranormal effects without actually seeing the entity behind them

It's probably different depending on each ghost.

I feel like she did see the ghost in the book
