So this "thing" is an ancient forgotten god ghost roaming free. Reida-san probably sacrificed himself to actually learn its true name, since even mediums like Miko or her dad cant perceive its true appearance (Miko even got fooled by its disguise as Reida-san). Rom can see its true appearance but his mind couldnt take it (He almost died trying earlier this arc, so he blinded his eyes not looking at the photo). They are trying to recreate the same forbidden ground like that shrine. Basically the dad sacrificed (killing himself in the car accident) to buff Francois (the pet) to the level of guardian god and make Yotsuya residence a sacred ground. That's why ghosts cant enter the house uninvited no matter what (black guys gang, rain female etc). Michiru was invited so her tentacles could enter. The creepy fat guy/grandma would be invited and lured inside the house. Not exactly lured, It also wants access inside the house, so It purposefully targeting Miko to eventually get "invited". If it wants to harm Miko, she would have been hurt already, but It only keeps traumatizing her. So at the end, they're all playing according to its plan. The only advantage they have is the piece of information Reida-san provided. Best case scenerio, Francois wins. Worst case scenerio, he loses and they bind the fat old guy/grandma instead.

How the fuck are they going to justify letting a perfectly good home be left to gather dust though? Or the local government for that matter. It already sounds like a pain in the ass to explain this weird thing to the mom and brother, but imagine trying to stop local powers from trying to make it a lived in place after the owners just abandon it?

Don't have much to add except the fact that it's goal was Miko's Mom and she just happens to be a close collateral target and gotten me very worried for Kyousuke especially if their Dad's Spiritual Vision suddenly activates on him at such a young age.

Recall in an earlier chapter that Seto was introduced to Miko's Mom by her as an exterminator. He could easily say they need to do an inspection and afterward found a heretofore hidden infestation of termites that have eaten away at the load-bearing supports inside the walls so he'll arrange for them to move out of the "unsafe" living quarters or something to that affect.

Honestly, looking forward to see into what horrific thing the old guy turns to when he battles the Miko's squad of Bloodborne Hunters + Dad with his Ludwig the Holy Blade stand. Bet her Insight is gonna go up by like 25 points by the end.

It goes from a slice of life horror manga to a serious tone switch like Rosario+Vampire, but with infinitely less fan service (not the anime apparently)

I'd like to imagine her dad just gives her a boost to her sight, combining their powers would probably let her see all spirits in their purest, realest forms
