Quite a cunty proceeding sincerely. "He's a trustworthy person and my saviour" so I'll deceive and indebt him to me in exchange for servitude. Oh I also actually made a profit from the situation where I was saved 2 times but the fool that I'm using has to know nothing and think he's a burden while living in abject poverty. I mean I know it's to develop the argument but way to turn a good man into a hateful and spitted individual. . .

This is the kind of logic I don't understand in manga series like these. Like there's obviously a balance for how much you'd probably value him not abandoning you, protecting you and even putting up with the craziest ideas like "shutting down a facility with no certainty it will actually work other than hope". Puts as our taste in my mouth for the rest of the series.

But what I take issue with here is the reasoning the author used for sticking together. MC clearly is a seasoned mercenary and knows his stuff. You could say he could call out her behavior, that's the first. Secondly, I don't take issue with her as much for taking advantage of him, rather, is how it's romanticized that feels quite scummy. As a male reader, that shit ain't cute!!! 🤣 Lapis character is fine but the framing of their relationship felt cheap.
