I understand everyone's anxiety on the wait for confession, but having to read the last 40 chapters I believe in Toyobayashi-sensei's ability in roasting the slow burn just right without overstaying the welcome.

I don't think the series will ever get axed as it is selling like hot cake right now

Even if the higher ups want to keep the series to survive long, I believe in sensei to write a good romance story

Can't wait how will Shunpei and An's relationship grows from now on

Oh looks dumb. And English is such a street side whore when it comes to sounds that I am willing to go with looks over zoomer-appealing spellings.
Blame Gutenberg for that, partially, rat bastard had to go and invent the printing press RIGHT in the middle of the great vowel shift, locking down spellings while they were actively changing (a lot of the words used to be pronounced more like they're written)... Also I've seen people use oh instead of ou since at least the late 90s. =)
In most varieties of English, /o/ basically only exists as a long vowel, so it seems weird to explicitly mark it as long. Or at least that's my best guess.
Hmm, there are plenty of examples in English with the short o sound, like long, dog, hot, bot, not, lot, etc. I dunno, could be someone's reasoning I guess.

The problem that it creates of course is obfuscating the difference between お and おう.

I used the slashes because I'm using the International Phonetic Alphabet rather than the English alphabet. Maybe I would have been better off just using お instead?

At any rate, my point is that the O sound in words like "blow" or "coat" is almost always long in most English dialects. The O sounds in "long" and "hot" are not the same. (I believe the o in "long" is longer than the one in "hot", but I digress.) It doesn't help that English terminology about the English language uses "short" and "long" to refer to completely different vowel sounds instead of the actual length of the sounds.

The boy is skirting dangerously close to turning into the classic spineless japenis protagonist, the type that stands passively while his girl is swept away by NTR man. I hope the author give him more spine in due course and not depend on the cliche oh noes we missed our train and have to sleep at the gasp! love hotel!!!
... this story will never go to a love hotel. They are supposed to be just out of elementary school. Kids learning about love doesn't really have a conclusion or an endpoint... they are kids.

I suspect that a consultation with Love Guru Luluca™ is in Shunpei's future.
Love Guru Luluca will need to get her own shit in order before she counsels anyone else…

For what it’s worth, French professional translations overwhelmingly use -oh- and -ah- to transcribe the long versions of the vowels. On the other hand, French doesn’t have the notion of short vs. long vowels, so it’s pretty hard to localize that in a straightforward manner…

You want me to blame Germans for ruining it for everyone else? Done and done!

Get a job working for or with Germans, won't take long before you decide Morgenthau was right all along.
Bro, I’ve got Germans in my family…
:kek:

And I’m talking actual Germans born and raised in Germany, not the yank travesty of calling oneself XYZ because one’s ancestors came from there 150 years ago…

I am also talking about genuine Germans, the ones born there whose ancestors participated in the Battle of Teutoborg Forest.
