Something less absurd. It's over-the-top in a ridiculous way, but also seemingly just kind of getting it over with.

I dunno, call me crazy but I like things to pay off with a bit more subtlety and be more meaningful. This whole affair just smacks of getting bored and rushing it through to call it a day to me.

I also despise the "confession -> end" thing.

How has anything in this manga ever been subtle? This ending is completely on brand for the tone and type of story this manga has been for it's entire run. If anything the few serious chapters we have had were the odd ones out.

also I get it now. The 4 idiots are us but the manna beast is also us.
Because where (and happy-san) the gooners fapping to the childhood friends. But instead we should be making our own childhood friends. And if everyone is our childhood friend. That means that the childhood friends are the where the Gooners we made along the way. Right!

??? Are you sure we read the same manga? Which part of any of it was subtle? It was straight pedal to the metal from the get-go and it only speeds up from there.

Subtlety works on a story that was capable of being subtle. This manga, in no way, was ever that.
