I remember a few people crying about him not being a psychopath, with him just being a chuuni. It was like they were expecting this to turn into a serial killer drama, or something. How far we have come from that.

I applaud for Norio for being THAT consistent with Yamada's non-existent character arc throughout this series.

The last half a dozen chapters or so leading into this ending have only proved to even further cement my thoughts that this series should have just been set in high school to begin with. So many of the story beats from the latter half of the series just felt empty, almost pointless even, because they're just 14 year olds going from middle school to high school.

The only way this series being set in middle school makes any sense to me is either Norio specifically targeted a middle-school-aged audience or she planned on doing a high school sequel from the very start, honestly though even in that second scenario it still doesn't fully add up in my opinion.
