With the next chapter being the final, I really hate to say this, but I'm not a fan of the last half of the manga. It's not like I wanted any big drama or crazy twists, but so many of the chapters felt like they were just kind of... filling space?
There's a series called "Stop! I'm Falling For You", which manages to deliver on what I feel Dangers neglected in the last half of its run. There's a lot of illustrated physical and verbal intimacy between the lead pair that's impactful but subtle, so you're constantly convinced of their chemistry, despite being very different people.
In contrast, ever since the Song Lyrics arc, I've grown less interested and fond of Ichi and Yamada as a couple, despite initially adoring them together. To me, it seems like the mangaka got so focused on showing us the turbulence of their relationship, that the intimacy aspect got greatly weakened.
In fact, I feel like you could sum up the entire last half of this manga as, "One of them is busy with something, so the other is trying to not get in their way. Ichikawa then finds a way to give Yamada some affection that resolves an overstated minor conflict related to them keeping apart."
I just wanted to see them be more of a couple, man. They got way too focused on these overarching plot points, like the exams. It stopped being as fun to read. Obviously, it's all subjective, but I really needed to discuss this after following this series from damn near chapter 1.
