So not only are they fighting so long that all this commentary can happen, but MC is also listening to the commentary while fighting?
If not why would he say that, he has no reason to think so other than audience talk.
Or what, MC looked this guy up before fighting? No way, that's too out of character.
Anyway, that was a big nothing chapter.

at least the loser got a chance to shine. It's always a bit strange when the "strongest" is immediately squashed like a smallfry. It just makes you think everyone is an incredible wimp instead of making MC seem really strong.

Lowkey starting to think that's the standard these days, give a bunch of shit at the beginning then slowly decrease pages as it goes along. Either artist are getting less motivated or just getting lazier.
A lot of first chapters are basically a pitch to an editor/publisher, and tend to only get slightly redone if the series gets approved. That's why so many first chapters can be so long and yet somehow feel like they're progressing at breakneck pacing (especially fantasy/isekai).

Then, once the hooks are in, the mangakas have far less time to actually get chapters out, which often means shortening and/or plot deterioration.

Rather than getting lazier, it's usually a sign of dwindling resources, burnout, late finalized decisions/revisions on the plot, inexperience with themes of the chapter, etc.

I would bet this mangaka is really unsure about how to actually conclude this duel in a way that doesn't feel cliche, or generic, and is also likely generally slower at drawing combat panels.

Of course it will end with MC win, no doubt on that.
Honestly, it was fine until the moment dude start yapping, then start explaining. Why MUST you HAVE TO SPEAK in the middle of heated battle?? Does dragonball teach mangaka nothing albeit mangaka is using super saiyan recipe?? :bleh:

Blame it in japan manga chopping tactic, cheap trick to not chop the sales they say. :shamihuh:
Pity how they are not aware chopping manga pages will lead to AXE.
