Yep, if you want to write you should read, then when you can articulate what you did not like you can start writting what you can.

BUT
You have to be mindful of the audience. That's something i am also coming to terms with, like what if this WASN'T the original story, but the author had to adjust it because they understand they need to make a sale at the end of the day. I am struggling with this concept. Maybe the reason why these tropes always show up is because the majority LIKES them, and i am just a small vocal minority?
