Looking at it from that angle- and accounting for whatever added context we get for the college circle stuff- it becomes... not excusable, but palatable.

I don't think its a retcon. Ice wanted to help those girls and she taught them how to manipulate men as a way to empower themselves. Manipulating men to benefit yourself appears to be Ice's world view on how things just work. Makes me wonder if something happened in her previous life that led her to being like that.

Now Ice sees that the girls are a lot happier getting along with men than destroying them, contrary to her world view. She's realizing she might be wrong and possibly starting to get jealous of their new found happiness she couldn't provide them. Also, as much as she clearly hates to admit it, she is a bit grateful towards Toma for helping them.

Toma has constantly said he wants to help Ice and Ice has constantly dismissed it as empty words. I think she's hitting a point where she's starting to believe his sincerity.
