The CONSEQUENCES phase
I love this mc's energy, he severely lacks common sense since he had to be that way to survive

Heh, the Fist of the North Star reject would be alive right now if he'd said "first blood" or "knock-out" instead of "death."

Wonder what's keeping mc from becoming full on psycopath. I mean he already kinda is but given how much he enjoys fighting n killing you'd think he'd go for some mass murder. He just needs a reaskn given to start killing. But who did he get this from?

Some kind of either taught or self-developed moral line to fit with society.
While he already monologue on how much he like the sight of blood, he seems to draw a line separating those he'd try to use words vs blood pinata to be popped.
Which seems to be some level of self-defense and 'rotten' people.

Back in ch 1 while he counter the shadow squad, he didn't pursue further since they also stopped after making that first strike.
Then in 1.2 the moment he judged the army as rotten, he has 0 issue killing any of them.
Even this chapter his concern is less about killing the bandits, and more that Fern might stop seeing him as 'a good guy'.

Basically less psychockiller and more shounen version of this creature

The need for self-insert of the reader, as a well adjusted corporate drone shackled into japanese social system and the authors misunderstanding that you can be an actually good person and be extremely proficient in violence without being mentally damaged along the learning curve at the same time. These people never ever experienced physical violence in their lives, ever, and fantasize about it in a strange way almost like a joke.

Or are we searching for an in-lore reason? He's probably from some hardass tribe and his father, who was just but strict, trained him and imprinted in him that killing is ok if you are told to do it by authority, or if you defend from injustice, since little, and he learned strength and hardship, but his mother loved him and taught him racism is bad, so he like the half-elf lady. dunno... LN tropes something something

I really need to stop reading slop like this

The fact that they had the soldiers die offscreen including the dickhead officer guy after explaining all these details about the MC tells me that nobody else is going to learn about it - which means that whenever the kingdom falls (presumably very soon with all those monsters incoming), nobody there is going to have any idea what happened and I find that kinda disappointing.

I have been enjoying this MC though, willing to kill enemy combatants without being all edgy about it like so many other mangas.

That was metal AF.
I like this murderhobo MC.
I actually like that he's not a murderhobo. He's got no problems killing, but his first thought wasn't "I should kill them." Like a murderhobo would. Part of that is Fern's influence of "liking good guys" but he's never been shown (even in the web novel) to "kill first, ask questions never"

Interesting that the MC is fully aware that, as a mercenary, he’s not a good person in the sense that Fern would like. And he didn’t even bother hiding that “mercenary” side of himself from Fern. But at the same time, with him saying that he wants to live as an adventurer, maybe he was hinting that he wants to live a more morally acceptable life.
