In a way, I like this over Youjo Senki. Touri has a reason to become a jaded pragmatist. The world she lives in is just that vile.
Tanya was an ass before being sent to a comparatively less dangerous scenario. Say what you want about Being X, he makes Tanya's world challenging but manageable. Touri has to make do with whatever God-forsaken hand she's dealt at any moment.
They are completely different stories. One is about fighting during warfare, the other is about surviving as a medic during warfare. There is barely anything to compare in these two stories

I love all the adults being, absolutely, mortified at everything Touri says. Not because what she's saying is wrong, but that it's the cold hard truth of war and it's all coming from such a young girl.

LN Tanya: She's a sociopath, which is a benefit in battle. If she were in Touri's position, she wouldn't be emotionally bothered by the loss of life. Though she would probably be pissed at the waste of human material.

Separately: Tanya's world is pretty much as bad as Touri's. And Tanya and her team keep getting sent to whatever the latest front is -- so she's hardly in a safer spot. (But obviously, Tanya has massive attack and defense while Touri has almost none.

Tanya is a sociopath that Being-X isekai-ed to become an op Jesus-like figure so people would pray more (tho he fucked up by choosing him/her so he retried with Mary Sue)
Touri was a normal dude and God(?) said "fuck you"

If you read the novels, you will know there's quite a lot more things to compare about between the two. Currently this one isn't even done with the prologue. This is more like comparing to Tanya being in her first deployment before she even gets to move through the military ranks.

The shit are you talking about, tanya is going through absolute fucking hell back to back.
Her being extremely skilled doesnt mean anything shes going through is a cakewalk they are always on razors edge.
The perspective is completely screwed because touri is so weak that anything is a struggle he isnt even a soldier.
All touri does is run through mud while using garbak as a meat shield, tanya gets 20 subordninates and is told to fist fight an orbital cannon.

The only reason Tanya's world is manageable is because Carlo Zen doesn't actually know the history of WWI and WWII and is just writing a fanfic based on the parts of both wars he liked best and he refuses to the let the reality of the material conditions he puts not-Germany in from volume 5 actually matter.

It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the novels. What we're reading here is the manga. Not to mention, if the genderbent was also supposed to be a point of comparison, Tanya at least had a constant dilemma about being forced onto a a little girl's body. In this story, the MC's "previous life" might as well not exist at all. The tag feels more like it was forced to drag in people who expressly look for it but it hasn't done anything for the story in several years worth of published chapters

Sometimes I forgot that MC was just a teen (idk probably a high schooler or still a kid) suddenly reincarnating into a girl that was forced to go to a war (was she forced? It's been a long time since this manga updated)
