  • I just noticed that Mangadex has been cleaning up the weird and incorrect tags on some manga.

I've been quite spoken about this for a long time, but I don't own the site.
So I'm quite happy about this.
There are still a few manga that I think still have questionable tags, but this is a step I can appreciate.

Ah I see, but I think some manga still has a lot of tag in it.
Hold up, isn't that 20th Century Boys actually a psychological thriller manga or something? How could they put cooking tag in it? :worry:

dunno. I guess it's the same reason people put romance tag on anything as long as there's handholding and cheek blushing.
Regardless of whether it is something that
actually pursued in the story or not.

Probably bcs some of scanlations group intentionally put a lot of tags so people could also find and read their scanlations, or idk.
This conversation came up again last night, so I just wanted to say this.
I grew up watching the two unofficial live-action Dragon Ball movies almost every year.
So when I saw DB Evo in theaters back in 2009, I thought it wasn't that bad.

It wasn't good, don't get me wrong.
But even back then, it wasn't the worst movie I'd ever seen.
I saw yet another mangaka, who I recall decided to stop their manga serializations due to health concerns (or something like that),
only to come back with.... hentai chapters.

I guess... making hentai is good for your health.

(Yeah, I know, more precisely because of the less demanding schedule. But still.)
I've read a lot of seinen manga set in countries outside of Japan.
Some, I feel, depict the people, interactions, and daily life in a way that feels accurate
(not that I've ever visited some of those places)
While some feel like just the typical manga characters/personalities, only now with so-and-so countries as the set background.

Now, I'm curious to know which manga gives the most accurate depiction of life in countries outside of Japan.
    hoo.... another spicy manga scandal?

    NOOOOOOOO
I was so scared when I heard that some mangaka were leaving.
I tried to check and wait a while to see if the manga I follow would be discontinued before I made this post.
After 10 PM, I thought it was safe.
Turns out the floodgate of announcement broke after midnight.

Well, I'm willing to bet that they are going to move to other publishers, who can get good publicity for hiring them

Yeah. Most likely. Maybe 1 or 2 months hiatus until they can continue in other place.
I find it quite amusing to see manga in this modern day depicting someone making a call on a smartphone,
and when the person on the other end of the line ends the call, the manga indicates this by adding a busy tone.
    On a smartphone.

Well, I guess I'm doing the same thing by writing this and using the phrase "on the other end of the line"
Ok, I initially read the first 2 chapters of A Mangaka’s Road to Japan when it first came out, and dismissed it as just "pfft, what is this?".
But now that I've actually sat down and read it, I think it's a pretty good... uh... infotainment... I guess?
(Because it's not really a story with plot, or biography, or diary)

But I thought this was some easy-to-digest information for those who often theory craft about mangaka, editors, publishers, manga getting axed, etc. some without any basis whatsoever.

Is it trustworthy being the source comes from the "corpo" itself? You decide.

I still think that it is a nice "official" information to have.

There are 2 days left and I still can't decide which manga I want to choose
so I can reduce the number of manga I will recommend to only 10. (from currently over 50)

This made me realize just how many manga are now licensed (or will be licensed) outside of Japan.
My coworker asked me if I planned to climb Fuji yet again this year.
I said, Yeah, probably, if I can find the time.

Then he said he never understood the appeal of climbing mountains.

And to that I replied, Some people have a hobby of trolling and making rage bait posts, even on platforms with no monetary gain.
I've never understood them either, and I don't intend to.
So, that's okay. You don't have to.
In my journey of reading hiatus manga, I think Hana-kun to Koisuru Watashi is maybe the worst so far,
if you only read the volume version.
Because it ended at the height of the conflict without any conclusion.
Fortunately, the last 2 chapters are still available here, which you can definitely consider the last chapter as "the end"
I feel like some donghua have side stories more complicated than the Fate series.
I was watching a 3D donghua animation just because I was attracted to its 3D aesthetic,
and suddenly I got several notifications about another donghua that visually looked completely different
but for some reason, somehow, related?
