@AngryFerret gosh honestly as the translator (and working in an Asian country) I totally sympathised with Xiaoyu as I translated. Often there's no/limited legal protection against this form of exploitation, and it becomes a working culture - to the point where not working overtime for free is...

@tducouteau Xiao (小) is a diminutive, so you can add it to things to make it more affectionate - think Bobby instead of Bob. So since her given name is Ye, her mum calls her Xiaoye as a pet name!
