Again, I think my explanation is being missed. The fact that they're named after flowers is skewing a lot of people's views. They're named after horses that are named after flowers, if you were just translating the horses names you'd put them in English, so why leave the girls' names in...

Thanks for the comments! Nice to be able to see people are reading. Hiramoto's art is wonderful, it's definitely changed a lot over the years and become a lot more generic-anime-y, but I love his art both old and new.
