That's just the (free) webnovel. The author, Necoco, was working on the light novel for this and ignoring all their web novels, so the story keeps going I believe.

Forgot the assassination arc? Literally a royal guard was trying to assassinate the 1st princess. That was the first hint of the conspiracy. The part of overthrowing her own father was a complete surprise though.

I think that the armor has something to do with it. The other two demons kept mentioning that the armor knight never spoke at all. It makes me think that the only reason the other Takeru could speak was cause the helmet fell off. I'm guessing if the full armor came off, he'd have full freedom...

This series is weekly, so they can only do so many pages per week. Good quality pages at that.

I do try to reduce sentences when I can. Though part of it is some bubbles are simply too small at times. Japanese kanji words are often shorter than english words, after all.
