I actually liked how the protagonist doesn't end up with a girlfriend.
He didn't want one. And having a girlfriend just because you "don't want to stand out" kind of turns women into accessories.
(granted, they were ready willing and able accessories, but still)
(they don't want what he wants)...
I liked Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five.
Vonnegut loves using science fiction to navigate and justify a sad and uncaring world.
Really resonated with me back when I was a teenager.
World's still sad and uncaring, but we've created little livable pockets.
@nachtness He still has his powers. He just wants to get rid of them once he's taken care of everything, which I assume includes the volcano.
(no spoiler tags because come on the cover up there has him with no limiters or glasses)
*puts on Optimism Glasses*
Oh! So it's okay! One timeline has Ontan and Kadode being okay, and another has the world not being destroyed. That adds up to 100% of a world.
First thought: "Huh. That's a pretty smart model."
Second thought: "I could watch anime for free if I just sat through some ads."
Third thought: "Oh, wait, never mind. They just invented television."
