This manga did that though? They've been perpetually in the same year despite celebrating Christmas and New Year's like twice. They even made jokes about it. This manga is simply ending because it's already had a long enough run. 20 volumes is huge and most manga would kill to have that.

Heavy spoiler for chapter 67

Only very recently in chapter 67 have they finally begun touching upon the big secret with Amou's mom (I'm assuming because it's a flashback arc with her. We don't actually know what it is yet). Until then they literally never touch it.

This chapter hits hard. My mother and sister are exactly like this girl when it comes to movies. It's an absolute pain in the ass choosing a movie to watch with them because unless something "interesting" happens in the first 10 mins they literally tune out and say the movie's boring/not good.
