Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 11 - Childhood Friend and the Sports Festival (3)

I don't disagree - and didn't before - with your read on events of the manga thus far. From what we've been shown, the loss in tournament is the only event we can lean on to explain Kazuki's behavior. My argument was that going with that and making everything begin and end with these 2 makes it...

Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 11 - Childhood Friend and the Sports Festival (3)

A narrowed focus on them is fine and even good for a romance-centered narrative. But making their problems/motivations start and end with each other makes for a less compelling story. Even if the world is just a vehicle for their relationship, it should still function as a world they exist in...

Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 11 - Childhood Friend and the Sports Festival (3)

That would suppose the only force with any bearing on the two of them is each other. And while that seem to be what the mangaka is going for, what with making almost everyone else faceless npcs, it does make the world - and by extension their romance - more shallow. Even their friends thus far...

Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 11 - Childhood Friend and the Sports Festival (3)

I'm actually hoping the loss in karate is just a consequence of his social decline and not the catalyst for it. Unless I'm mistaken, we haven't been introduced to his father, so maybe that's part of the cause.

Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 8 - The Touch of My Childhood Friend

You misunderstand my point. He was only able to get this stuff because of his mom. If he isn't acting like he should, his mother should be exerting her parental authority and take away his shit.

Osananajimi wo Mirume ga Kawatte Shimatta - Ch. 8 - The Touch of My Childhood Friend

Disrespectfully, how tf are you going to complain about what your child does and doesn't do when you have 100% control over what he owns. What, you want to tell us your shutin son bought that fight stick on his own? WITH WHAT MONEY???

    THE BAND - Ch. 12

From reading the mangaka's other work, the first girl introduced typically doesn't end up with the MC. Yuhei and drummer girl feel so similar to Koyuki and Maho from Beck, I'd be surprised if the author didn't pair them before the manga's completion.

    THE BAND - Vol. 1 Ch. 2

The author's formula is pretty straight-forward by now: good-natured sweet girl who is mutually attracted to MC but ultimately doesn't end up with him and the rough around the edges girl who ends up with MC. I'll still probably enjoy it.

    Wakaba-san'chi no Aoi Koi - Ch. 29 - Coward

Looking at the mangaka's other work, now I wonder if she's soft rebooting her yuri oneshot with these two girls. Probably not, but who knows.

Boku no Suki na Hito ga Suki na Hito - Vol. 5 Ch. 30

I'm still not completely buying it, but this does leave room for more ambiguity than I initially assumed. Edit: I am completely on board with the big sister route. This just seems like an clunky opening that wasn't needed.

    Wakaba-san'chi no Aoi Koi - Ch. 29 - Coward

At this point, I don't think the author will fake out the yuri tease a 2nd time. Then again, she seems to really planting these instances of conflict just to reveal them as misunderstandings later.

Boku no Suki na Hito ga Suki na Hito - Vol. 5 Ch. 30

But the bedridden character whom Sora speaks to and falls for in chapter 20 is quite clearly Miya. Unless this is a retcon, it just can't be her big sister.
