Jokes aside, I think the manga going to elaborate on what exactly the mom did wrong while raising Asuka. It's probably something along the lines of how she couldn't give Asuka the love and intimacy she needed as a child rather than the mother actively choosing not to do it. Asuka seemed to be under the impression that her mom treated everyone the same, including her, or that her mom's affection wasn't genuine somehow.
