Everyone calling him a dumbass, but let's be honest; if you met someone from when you were in elementary school and they were completely different in looks and demeanor and actively tried to act like they don't know the person you're referring to, would you have any reason to believe they were that person?
Hell, I just ran into someone who was in my graduating class 15 years ago and, only after about 5 minutes of talking did he finally introduce himself because he recognized me (aside from a receding hairline, I look the same as when I graduated) and I still had a hard time recognizing him or even remembering what he looked like back then.
Our dude's confusion is not that far-fetched. Also, glad we got Mahiru there, because we need someone else reacting to how stupid Miya is being, or I feel this would be much more tiring to read.

Let the parents have some fun watching the train wreck. Wouldn't you? Heck, I'd fan the flames. I agree, let her suffer and if I were the parents I'd be like let me enjoy the show. What else are they going to do for fun during work?

As for the friend, well she called Miya out in private and keeps saying she should just introduce herself. It really isn't her place to end the charade and introduce her for her.

The MC is dumb, but most of it is on her. Kids change a LOT more than adults (or even adolescents). It's not that unreasonable that he didn't immediately recognize her. But I'd say that she keeps playing this game makes her go further and further off the mark. Especially here where she let's him talk about Miya as if that isn't her. That's her biggest mistake and it's going to make it even more unlikely for him to realize.

I've been playing the Japanese version for 5 years, and when I saw the name crunchyroll in the global version I didn't want to try xd(well also because I was used to the current game and didn't want to take characters out again xd).
