"Geez...all I did is give him a drink and he's wrecking the place?"
"...Bro, did you forget that dad's a shitty person when he's drunk?"
"...But it's payback"
"Oh it is fucking payback alright..you're gonna pay back for all the damages!"

With that said...aww..it's nice that Yuta's mom still trying to be a proper mom from beyond the grave.

If anyone is curious about the Eggplant & Cucumber animals in the second panel of page 3, they are a traditional summer Obon custom:
During Obon period, some families make a small horse out of a cucumber and a small cow of out of an eggplant. The legs are made of chopsticks or matchsticks. These are called Shoryo-uma (horse for souls). Usually they are placed with an incense burner outside of the entrance of a home on the first day of Bon to welcome that ancestors’ souls.

It is believed that the souls come back home quickly on a cucumber horse, tracing the trail of incense, and leave later slowly on an eggplant cow. The horse and cow are placed on altar on the second day. People will display them with lanterns, flowers and food items around the altar.

Comparing pages 4 & 8, you can see an extra pair of shoes appearing at the entrance. I enjoyed the twist of this story that re-contextualizes the opening scene from what it looked it and also gives an alternate explanation for why the estranged son smells of alcohol. Don't think I've ever heard of a bad drunk haunting before either.

For Yuuma he finally has his Mother back but I am highly worried about what's going to happen to Hina (and his Step-Mother, I guess).
Thanks for the TL.

Yuuma's stories are evolving: they've gone from "And then the shitty, abusive parent died. The end." to "And then the dead shitty, abusive parent continued to be a violent drunk from beyond the grave. The end." Our boy's growing up, and one of the hardest parts of growing up is realizing that not every problem can be solved with supernatural murder.

Love the meta narrative this time: the beginning shows that Mommy Hina took the blanket off the bed to put it on Yuuma after he fell asleep at the desk, and then her disappearance in the end was just so she could make him dinner. Girl's got hella skills managing to juggle that tray of food without spilling it when Yuuma spontaneously hugs her, too. Classic Hina.

So close...i wonder if the author has the finale planned out, would be hilariously messed up if the publishers axed their series at chapter 98 or 99 tho

Is it common for grave stones to have the namu amida prayer on them as opposed to like the family name?

Yeah, it seems that the dad was an abusive alcoholic, and the gift of sake caused his ghost to be abusive and alcoholic in death.

Interesting that the other son didn't seem to view his dad as poorly (unless it's the "i remember things diff" or "one child wasn't mistreated"/never was around when the dad was drunk and lashing out or he was simply a toddler/too young to remember anything 'negative')

Or he's the "Dad's favorite boy".

It occurs to me that if we were the mom the whole time, that the titular "my death" may not refer to Yuta.
It could be, but then why it's in future tense? And it also says "my own death", implying someone else died before that.
