Definitely not foreshadowing lol
The man thinks the doll is malicious, when in fact it's trying to protect him. He perishes with his wife, because he doesn't listen to the doll.
Yuma is the main character, Hina is the wife and the doll is Kido.

so hina still got affected/not safe yet or our mc wanted to make sure she's safe for good? kido would actually help him and even he himself said that you shouldn't interrupt the story so he might be waiting till the 100th

Thanks for the chapter. I don’t want to believe that it’s too late to save Hina, even if the wife represents her in the story.

I get the feeling that we're gonna be the sacrifice at the end of this meta story.

Thanks for the chapter 🥛. At first I was confused about the doll's facial expressions and intent but the comment section made an interesting point.

It's just weird how the doll seemed to protect him even though he threw it away at first contact. Then again, the garbage sale would get torn down and disposed eventually, so by throwing her in a secluded area counts as saving her.

He saved the doll from being broken.

The sense of "Payback" then comes from the doll continuously warning her savior from anything that might break him instead.

Yuuma, though, wants to break Kido. Maybe the officer's remark of stopping things at the source gave a catastrophic impression to him. It's like he wants to kill the guy and continue 'till story 100 without any possibility of a future.
