“You‘re only twenty once in your life….yikes.

Finding out all this

• she has less than 10 years to live
• that her own mother took years off her life
• that mother was probably the cause of her sister’s death
• that the mother is probably planning the same to all the kids that she and older sister raised until she died

Even someone who appears to care for you could actually just be using you and anyone else they can get their hands on. Cue head pats on Yuuma as you whisper good night from the ceiling.

I‘m more worried for Hina than Yuuma at this point. She’s losing herself and passing out. But what is the Not-Hina even doing all day, if they’re even missing out on story time? What could be more important? What if…Not-Hina was out spreading rumors of how awesome it is to tell 100 ghost stories to all the kids in the neighborhood? Like how the mother had multiple kids from which to feed her vitality spring?

I think it has to be your life. The mom's life would've been spent raising those kids, so she gets to use their life as their life was hers.

The terrifying implication is that by this logic, she couldn't use her mom's life, but she could use her younger sisters'.

Okay this is a good story. A bunch of questions flooded into my mind after that last panel and its possibilities were horrifying

What tf did she mean by lifespan being used by her Mom? That's why Mom looks so young right..? How did she take somebody else's lifespan? Is it her jurisdiction as a parent? How is it fair to freely take the lifespan of your own children? How long has Mom been doing this? Was this why Ichika was d...? Has the facility been using the compensated lifespan for the own purposes? Given such a technology exists in their world, who else might be using it? How many people have they taken lifespans from? Just how many years of lifespan have they accumulated? Thousands? M...illions? Just how old is that lady in the operating room? How old could be the one in the center of this potential... mafia-esque... underworld... business?

The way I explain it: the mother was able to take her kids' lifespan(s) either because a) they were still inside her when she did it, or b) she, as the legal guardian, can decide such things
In case a) maybe get pregnant again ASAP and use the unborn child's lifespan?
