Maybe a secret(not needed) yuri relationship between 2 housewives? But seriously, right from the start this manga planned to either have Matsuri turned back or we go for a yuri end. It is hard to see a possibility that Soga win, sad. Garaku tho, he lives a long life so I guess next life will be alright.

Is anyone actually invested in the romantic drama in this story?

MC and heroine are clearly gonna wind up together. In other manga, I'd get worried or be surprised by the drama. In this one I'm yawning wishing they'd go back to the action because it's clear that none of it matters since the heroine and transgender like each other.
