With the screen off and no energy-hog apps actively running, it would have stayed on for a week. Who knows how long it took for the power and services to go offline. So, basically, he did have messages from the first week at least, I'd say.
With that brief flashback, we don't really know what he went through in the other world. But we can assume that while he liked the three girls, he never felt welcome anywhere in that other world. He apparently didn't also love the girls too deeply. Maybe he's the kind of guy who wouldn't even travel abroad or learn foreign languages back in his original world, so all he could think about was getting back home in the other world.
If that other world was less a fantasy land of roses and wonder, more a fantasy world closer to the real medieval period, then he really would have had a hard time adapting. Everyone there would feel really bigoted and ignorant, poor hygiene by modern standards, not that much in the way of modern conveniences.

https://mangadex.org/chapter/1ebe5217-87db-4685-ae24-db1378b68f1f/34 seems like it should be possible to get buy (unless his sword was super op or so) but at least he's able to use his magic enhancement, but other than the kingdom basically screwed him and his team over after saving the world i might wanna go back too/would feel tedious to 'save the world /again/' or so lol even if one has more attachment to their home country (tho be hilarious if he could just enhanced his fists if bats keep breaking. or imagine if he was a 'chosen one' and somehow immune to zombie bites but others might not know so if they see that i can imagine some turning on him too if he does find normal survivors)
