They don't need to eat people for food, see Nezuko. So that statement is horribly wrong. Demon slayers were dispatched to kill the spiders living on the mountain, they needed help, and more were dispatched. They only eat humans to regenerate quicker and to grow stronger as demons. It is not necessary. And no need to insult people, it reflects poorly on you.

@MoonlightwolfchanX I agree with what you said, but I think it might have to be the fact that you didn't @/ping them? Personally, I don't go back to chapters I've read and commented on so I don't see any comments after I've left, and it might be like that for others as well.

But hm, your comment got me thinking. I thought somehow Nezuko was special, only needing to sleep to make up for the fact she doesn't eat, and everyone else /has/ to eat humans? Like, the demon doctor we met chapters ago still needing to drink human blood (even if it's just a few).

@tateragi I did foget to use the @, well too late now. And it isn't that important to me.

Nezuko may very well be a special case who doesn't have to consume human flesh/blood, but it isn't stated so I still assume that the others are capable but don't want to deal with the long periods of sleep. Nezuko puts forth the effort to not attack and eat humans and has Tanjirou to protect her while hibernating.
