Why do these "isekai'd into a game/novel/manga" characters never realize that the sole fact that their personalities are like the opposite of how their characters were in the original story already means it's highly unlikely they'll end up the same way? They always act as if there is some cosmic force trying to push them towards their original fate when not being bitches anymore already saved them from that.

@Acolytus They don't understand cause and effect. That the reason these character took these paths was because they were shaped by experience. I blame a lack of proper storytelling and world building in so many things. Also the lack of critical thought taught in schools.

Nora reminded me of one very pretty girl I had met at otaku meeting. As soon as I saw her I told her "You're so beautiful" because she was (and is) incredibly beautiful and she shined. Many years after she said to me these words were very important to her. She had been ostracized by classmates, always had being told how strangely she looks, but those words gave her confidence.

It's interesting how much most people care about surroundings' judgement on their looks.

@ciurrb People's judgement of their own appearance seems to be surprisingly fluid. So I mean, logically you'd expect if you're good looking all you have to do is look in the mirror and you'd know haters are lying, but in fact people lacking confidence can look in the mirror and see a version more reflecting their fears. Makes it easier for this kind of thing to succeed I guess.

@Acolytus I kind of agree with you a bit in that it can be a bit annoying how dense they are, but in their defense I actually have seen some where at the very least it seems like either they're set up by other characters or there's some world rules/game mechanics in play that force them along a similar/same path even when they're actively trying to be good and avoid it.

If you look at it that way, then maybe they're just too genre savvy for their own good?

@acolytus no one, and i mean no one, is denser than bakarina

and also, in some isekai/reincarnation to otome game, no matter what they did, they'll go to ruin route anyway.and only after that, they'll start to be OP

@Acolytus - I guess you just identified a major pattern of Otome/Re-do Isekai. MC is always trying to avoid their bad fate. It's funny when it's just a few like when it was just Bakarina. It sets up being a funny for the audience knowing while the character not knowing (and most Otome Isekai are on the comedy side). And it's gonna be a great moment when the MC finally realizes their hard work has paid off (which so far, I don't think any of these Isekai stories have reach that point).

But at the same time, it is getting over played if you read too many with this starting premise.

But also, in terms of the story, she has full right to still be careful. Her personality have greatly changed and that should mean major butterflies in the timeline. But from her shoes, how can she really knows for sure? Technically, smart money in avoiding that fate is to do something drastically different - like being not being friends at all. But she can see something not right. She can see she's too nice and while she is worried she is making a step to her downfall, she doesn't want to avoid her while she can see is so nice. Though a smarter character should be able to speculate her calm and quiet personality meant she was the type to be bullied and later became the bully - rather than act confused. Obviously we all can see that, it would be nice if she can see that too.

@Acolytus: Quite the answer avalanche. I also wanted say something. Most has been already told though. I also feel, that it's the trope's fault for being overplayed, that those heros look over cautiousness, naive, even idiotic, but at the same time their characters were heading into a Bad End. It's wise to start planning to avoid that and who says, that there isn't a force of fate trying to counter any deviation from the plot? Maybe a goddess or a villain, that plots against that one character. Just because you are paranoid, that doesn't automatically mean, that they aren't really out there to get you. 😁
An indication for such a force is, that e.g. many of those characters faced a Bad End, no matter what happened in an interactive visual novels. That's all the reason to act that way and NEVER feel save until the danger (time of the Bad End) has past. They already have unnaturally reincarnated. Anything might jump them around the next corner.
Though...yeah...many MC are just soooo......I really, really do see your point.

@RhoninFire You should change your last comment, not all MCs want to change their destiny.
See the manga "The Daughter of the Albert House Wishes for Ruin", the protagonist wants to get to the ruin (even if it is clear that it will not succeed). xD
Returning to history, I thought one thing.
If Nora has such a shy and insecure personality, does not it mean that maybe the heroine is attracting her dislike? o.ò
We have seen in some manga how not all the heroines of the original story do not always have a good personality, in fact they are more rotten than their antagonists.
Well I suppose we'll have to wait for the meeting with her to find out.
