uh what? taking the money is not an easy way out. In fact, its literally the opposite. Taking the money would be a guaranteed way to get even more involved. It's not like the money or money pouch is untraceable. Entering a verbal "contract" is the most loophole filled vague thing possible. And if the "contract" falls through, MC would be obligated to repay reparations. And since the terms aren't being written or discussed out, the effects and consequences can easily be drawn out.

And then there's the fact that she's a swindler that's been mentioned multiple times. With her money on his person, there's a million scenarios she can use to setup the MC to make him out to be whatever the hell she wants. She could lie he has dirt on her and took her money to reinforce the threat. Or she could meet/run into him and claim he assaulted her. Giving his word is the least involved way to move on. MC doesn't want to get involved for good reason. She's a fucking swindler, which again has been mentioned multiple times.

@lurker123 Looking by how desperate she wants to hide the fact that she's a swindler from the prostitute place and she knowing that he's gonna be hired there, I doubt she'll do anything against him. Of course it's different matter if it's all an act from the start and she used the money as a bait (means that she actually didn't mind if it's known that she's a swindler). Also, I doubt that she can proof anything that MC blackmailing her and took her money (if he did) without revealing that she's a swindler anyway, it's not like she gave him her wallet including her ID card (if there's any) and there's no witness either, the only thing she can accuse him is that if she reveal herself that she's a swindler and the MC blackmail her (which mean that it's an act all along from the start). And she setting him up as assaulting her can be done without giving him money, so why would she? I doubt this world has a way to trace the money, so there's no way she can use the money as the evidence.
