The Water Temple itself wasn't that bad - pretty easy once you know about that key hidden at the bottom of the central shaft. The issue was with how you had to keep going to the menu, over and over, to switch your boots.

evil water in the original manga feels other people hostility and reacts towards them hence why it probably was trying to drown the fish/kill the monster that freed it. It probably just slip out and continue attacking everything it comes across beside king

Hope they go back to pig god/gums battle, we never did see how pig god manages to devour him
