I kinda pity Luka. When she's going to greet Ellie and rekindle their friendship, Ellie who doesn't want to offend her greet her formally since both of them are from rival faction. It made Luka angry and hurt her heart since she thinks Ellie isn't her friend anymore. She then attack and mock her out of anger.

I've read another manga about nobles and all. The convo going on in it was to the point that I can't no longer suspense my disbelief that these are like, 11-12 y/o scheming and engaging in realpolitik

Yeah other mangas trying to convince you that this political mastermind that everyone listens to without hesitation is 9.
Here it feels normal, a bunch of kids tangled on adult politics by their parents, leading to every misundersanding to be made bigger because its seen through the lenses of cunning political wording when its just kids being awkward and not knowing how to express themselves or if they should express it at all.

I feel like Van may have been able to notice Lukas shift in attitude when Ellie changed to formal speech when addressing Luka if he wasn't trying to observe Roy's reaction. I don't think he would have been able to help mend their relationship on the spot, but it would allow him to try to at a different time after consoling Ellie and letting her know the issue. It doesn't seem like Van will be any help though, but if Luka shares the backstory with Roy I can see him fixing their relationship.
