@RubyBoule The difference being that One piece arguably was always good, this thing fell off it's stride the second it started jumping all over the place instead of sticking with it's core concept of the main character dying until he eventually succeeds.
It was great at first, he'd make some progress and then fuck up and start over again, but the writer decided that wasn't good enough so they started switching through heroines, side characters, and story arcs until he found one he liked again.
Plus the power creep got out of hand almost immediately, The mc started getting thrown into people so far above his level that he couldn't do anything no matter what, The writer really wrote himself into a corner with that bit, because the only logical solution is to throw some deus ex machina in there to let the mc get away.
And that's not even really getting into the core problem which as I mentioned before was that the writer had absolutely no plan while writing, he was just throwing scenarios out each time and when it didn't work like he wanted he'd abandon it immediately by forcing the system to dump the mc into a whole new story without bothering to finish off the previous story line at all.
