I'm fairly certain that he is around the norm for a Shounen manga mc, and he wasn't completely immune to the girls advances and teasing as he was desperately attempting to prevent a- uh 'boner' as you and many others call it. It would turned into a real shit show if he got a bit too aroused, and he knew it too.

You are indeed correct, but it's a norm to be as socially distant and conservative as possible in Japan. It's why the line "Now I can't get married!" was popular in old manga where the mc would accidentally see one of the female cast naked. Literally seeing panties is considered an act of lechery. But then again in our eyes it may be weird why this is a common factor but the Japanese don't really understand our norms either, even kissing and holding hands is reviled as a public act. It's literally the only way these stories can work and it's possible to prolong everything especially in romance manga where the main couple only get together near the end of a manga.

I wish for some of kind of consistency in manga and have to agree with others that guys do react to sexual stimuli, lets face it at that age of sexual hormone levels the only ones that wouldn't simply couldn't due to health issues or being gay. It doesn't matter if the girl is good or bad, simply if she is attractive and in this case over aggressive without the ability to escape from it. One other thing I wish manga would address is if the time period is modern in the smartphone era that if a person is constantly harassed that they would use the technology to protect themselves. With him being attacked constantly, it should a natural defense to set the phone minimally for voice/memo recording with cloud hand-off for all the times he feels he's being harassed/extorted this way even if they take his phone from him or destroy it, he at least would have a cloud backup to defend himself from their antics. While I don't mind some trope use... I want the trope use to be done creatively where it allows the author to simply be lazy. I don't mind a manga taking 100+ chapters to resolve it's story, I only do if keeps over-playing a trope and only continues with zero development due to some editor or publisher keeps beating the dead horse till it splits at the molecular level.

I thought that's her family name and Hanako was her first name. That's why she has to tell him to call her that as a sign of trust, as being on a first-name basis with someone is a sign of intimacy in Japan. Also, she said that it's "like" being called trash, not that it literally means she's being called trash. If I were to guess, there was a nasty divorce or family situation which is why she is referred to with two family names, and she just thinks one side is garbage. @bradek

I actually think that Hanako is the perfect depiction of a Tsundere. She's not physically abusive nor does she bully or harass MC here. He's being targeted and extorted by worse people and so she'll come to help him with a fight he can't win because of his circumstances. She respects him and appreciates him as a person, it's just that she understandably will get frustrated if he doesn't communicate to her and because he lacks a spine, and so she wants him to "man up" for lack of a better term. I actually think the two get on with one another pretty well otherwise.

I wish more authors took note of this kind of dynamic. It's not a case of a tsundere that's hard or irritating to watch because of their two-faced nature and how they can come off as bratty or bitchy, but a case of someone who can be described as a tsundere because they're trying to teach the main character some fundamental lessons, but their actions prove that they do actually care for the main character beyond all of that.

Also, I'm curious, does "Kuzuhana" translate to trash or is it "Kuzuryu"? Or is it just the prefix "Kuzu-" that translates and the other part is something that changes depending if you're in Kanji or one of the other languages?
