@ju2c0c0 gacha games is my gambling addiction. I may not frequent casinos much, but goddamn if gacha games don't fucking ruin me financially.

@wanfai You can run a half-full dishwasher, or simply rinse the early dishes a bit more than the later ones, or just not be home a lot and therefore not be particularly affected by the smell of the dishes waiting in the washer. It doesn't have to be perfectly "cost-effective" to be still easily worth your money for the time and patience it saved you. Oh, and since I got to live in a house built with a dishwasher in mind even as an impoverished student, so can most people.

...Is what I was about to post before I had second thoughts and googled it. Turns out about 75% of households in the US have dishwashers, and probably under 25% in Poland, both numbers being rough approximations. That's on top of the fact that plenty of people have dishwashers but don't use them, apparently. What the fuck? Washing dishes are the worst. People are weird.

@twinklecake @eelzbean @wanfai The main reason why many East Asian countries do not have dishwashers standard in most homes is cost, specifically the energy cost of running it. It is the same reason why many households either do not have a dedicated dryer for clothes, or do not use the dryer unless absolutely necessary (ever wonder why there are lots of scenes in anime/manga where there are clotheslines on balconies/rooftops?)

Many East Asian countries burn fossil fuels for a significant portion of their electricity. Their electricity costs are easily double North American costs, and usually is much more than double. So any appliance that uses a lot of electricity is very expensive to operate. The appliances that use the most electricity are the ones that use electricity to heat, especially heating up air (ex. dryers, dry cycles of dishwashers).

Thank you for the TL! Is the "Is he... you know.. a ya--" on page 3 a reference to the "is she... you know... a lesbian?" meme? because if so... love the energy
