Why so much hate for crunchyroll when 100% of your streaming sites are CR-rips?
Because Crunchyroll is a monopoly (or very close to be), and everyone hate monopolies for very good reasons. No one like to overpay for a rapidly degrading service. Especialy when this service seems to be done by people who don't like anime/manga and are in for the money, like the recents controversises about crunchyroll tend to show, and when there is no improvement is sight even if HiDive/ADN is here.

In the other post I gave a reason not to wholeheartedly hate Crunchyroll, but with licenses it's easier to get the monopoly (nowadays it's oligopoly in the strict sense of the term) of audiovisuals. Enforcing exclusivity of emitting/distribution rights in several translated languages makes mostly impossible having new competitors, since native studios/producers only care about the contract they sign with whoever buys the rights so it's really unlikely for them to refrain selling them to a successful (in terms of producing money) enterprise. If any other platform/TV channel/etc. wants to emit it in any of those languages, they need to pay for distribution to Crunchyroll even if they don't use the same subtitles and stuff because they own the rights in those languages, and there are a bunch nowadays (the rights can also be bought for zones/countries, making it harder for other languages to emit said series by themselves, without having to pay for the intermediary).
What bad practices CR has? First of all, taking down series once they're no longer profitable without the chance of anyone picking them later because they may even still have the rights and making users pay the same amount for less content if you do not belong to the 3 English countries. Related to this point, there's a huge % of series that use a second-hand translation for other languages that are not English. Secondly, even for this lower quality service users have to pay the same amount of money for less series depending on the country you reside, and this amount can be even half in some cases for new series and mostly none for old series. Thirdly, it is known for many years that CR reduces video quality (for some series drastically) of the series and movies despite labelling with the same said quality (480, 720, 1080). Lastly, the use of MTL and AI is on the rise to cut costs and that result in terrible subs, for this season everyone knows how it was for Shikanoko. These are the main points, but you can find more controversial points if you surf the net.
Of course, rotten capitalists don't care about this because if they want they can pay for anything while laughing at non-rich people problems.

To follow off the above by @Manko-sensei , I've not seen anything that would make me think anime studios are making any money after the initial license fee, so for them, the only financial concern would be 'are people watching on one of the official services?' Once that initial check clears, there's no further money in it for them on that license, but in order to make sure that another check shows up for next season's shows, they need to drive eyeballs to the official service. Quality of that service is at best a secondary concern, and if it's easier to stamp out pirate sites than to push the services to spend more on localization (presumably leaving less for future licensing), that's the route they're going to take. What will get the attention of the studios is if another player (or players) decide to throw some money around and create competition in the market. So if you really want to stick it to CR in a way that gets the attention of the studios, some of the series winding up on HiDive or Netflix or Prime or Apple or wherever is how to do it - which means you need to support those other platforms so they start going after more series. If the total of your argument is 'no money to any streamer for anime,' you can bet that your opinions are going to get ignored, and once there's a certain critical mass, the studios are going to come after your pirate sites.

From CR's standpoint, Sony has VERY deep pockets they can draw on, but they also have to figure out how to be paying into those pockets at the end of the day. It's not even partly about 'liking' anime anymore for the company, like it was 20 or 25 years ago when the US licensees were being run by folks who were fans in addition to being businesspeople. So the question becomes how to hit CR's bottom line in order to effect change, which, again, comes down to supporting the competition.

If legitimate sites sell a better product or experience than pirates then there's no issue, people are willing to part with their money if what they're paying for is good. Problem is, this is never the case and monopoly practices means they never will improve their services. It's dogshit service quality, dogshit translations, dogshit library, and dogshit search functions as far as the eye can see for legit sites. Why would you pay for an inferior product? Your money isn't going to creators anyway, just filling corporate pockets. Piracy is always moral in this case.

If you want to pay creators do so directly, until that gets taken away too by payment processors.

Except there's a rise of people who want more AI translated stuff because of how awful the human localizers have been lately.
It's impossible to take seriously that kind of people, as for localisers they simply do what the higher-ups want and it's precisely because they want to cut on costs that they don't mind decreasing the quality as long as it sells. The practice itself of localising is already abhorrent per se, and the same AI can be programmed to do the same, even so they still replace translators with MTL/AI and have an editor do that part. Both parties are part of the same problem.
